This Privacy Policy explains how Made by Motive (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit bymotive.shop or buy from us. We are based in New Zealand and handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Information we collect

  • Order details — your name, email address, billing country and the products you buy.
  • Payment information — processed securely by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Messages — anything you send us by email or through our contact form.
  • Newsletter — your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Device and usage data — such as your browser, device type, IP address and the pages you visit, collected automatically through cookies.

How we use it

  • To process your order and deliver your digital products.
  • To provide customer support and handle refund requests.
  • To send you the emails you have asked for, such as order confirmations and, if you subscribe, our newsletter.
  • To keep our store secure and prevent fraud.
  • To understand how our store is used, so we can improve it.
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify — our store platform, which hosts the website and processes orders. See Shopify’s Privacy Policy.
  • Payment providers — such as Shopify Payments and PayPal, to process your payment.
  • Authorities — only where the law requires it.

These providers may store and process information outside New Zealand. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.

Cookies

We use cookies that the store needs to work (such as keeping items in your cart) and cookies that help us understand how the store is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the store may not work without them.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them to support your purchase and to meet tax and accounting requirements. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, or to receive a copy of it. To make a request, email support@bymotive.shop. We may need to confirm your identity first.

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any of our emails.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. In New Zealand you can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. If you live elsewhere, you can contact your local data protection authority.

Children

Our store is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
